The Redwood

Part of a significant residential redevelopment in Napa, CA that reimagines the historic Napa County Infirmary buildings into housing, the Redwood apartments are the modern portion of the site’s new buildings. Tucked in below existing mature redwood trees, the building incorporates interrupted stacked massing to scale down the overall size of the building and its impact on the adjoining neighborhood. With a high water table, subgrade parking was not feasible, therefore, we introduced front stoops to hide the parking garage and to create a pedestrian context in an area that straddles commercial and single-family residential zones.
