As today’s $4.2 trillion wellness industry embeds its influence into modern life, a handful of forward thinking medical brands are taking note that humans feel better seeking and delivering services if the setting of care nurtures their humanity.
When the founder of Clover came to us, he brought his vision for capturing the imagination of design-savvy millennials and gen-z with a very modern approach to scaling up his already thriving alignment business. Trading the usual sterility of the orthodontic office for an environment that promotes a deep sense of wellbeing, we worked holistically with him to deliver both a brand and its physical home that root every single touchpoint in the soothing power of nature.
Using biophilic design as our northstar, we wove purpose into every space, asking ourselves if each room embodied the promise of true connection to nature, rather than simply a cosmetic afterthought. Using organic shapes and forms, all natural stone and wood, soft tones and an interplay of grounding textures, we thoughtfully considered how to make each design element feel like being held by nature.
A planter built directly into the banquet of the waiting area. Linear lighting, always recessed, so that no lightbulbs are ever visible to the eye. Natural light throughout, whether filtered by the privacy of the ribbed glass on every door, the clerestory windows positioned above the Brush Bar, or the floor to ceiling storefronts. Curved soffits and arches, lines that bend and resolve throughout for fluidity.
To address the challenge of programming a busy space with a high volume of daily clients, we maximized the density of treatment spaces in part by building work stations into them rather than designing for a typical back of house area. In each of the rooms, neutral tones and softened corners reinforce relaxation with intimate, cove-like ambiance.
The significance and cumulative subconscious effect of all these architectural moves reinforces the brand’s promise “Set for Life” with an alignment so utterly perfect it feels completely natural.
