Umami Burger

When Umami Burger was ready to introduce two next-generation flagship locations in Chicago and (WHERE ELSE?), they brought us in to define their 2.0 concept and align their internal stakeholders. Our goal was to design a space that brings the mystery of umami–the fifth taste–to life by taking them back to their sushi kitchen roots. With cues from Japanese art, design, and architecture, we interpreted these iconic influences through an entirely modern American lens to keep their signature youthful edge as we introduced interior refinements to reach a broader segment of the market.
