Castilian

A forever home for a busy multi-hyphenate and her family, Castillian needed to feel like a personal escape to provide solace from the street as well as a very hectic calendar. This ground-up project came with the challenge of maximizing a hillside location. We studied both aspects – the stretching of time and space – to fulfill the client’s brief and design a home that feels big enough to be a world away and intimate enough for much-needed rest and rejuvenation.

Guided by the principles of careful balance and artful contrast, we designed a horizontal frame that conceals from the street the sanctuary within. On the nature-inspired exterior, two stucco finishes complementary in tone and texture are married with thoughtful wood accents. Inside a modern Italian Villa filled with romance, softening the bold lines and angles with timeless neutrals, warm textured limestone, marble accents, and deep woods. Strong and supple, formal and relaxed, Castillian is the perfect palette for a lifetime of pleasure.
